This wash day started out with me detangling and prepooing my hair with coconut oil. The detangling step was very necessary this time around, as I had been wearing rope twists and the hair clumped together a lot due to the style. After detangling, I put my hair into my old friend - the four braids that I loved so much. Next I applied the Kukui oil shampoo to my dry hair.
I saw somewhere that shampoo is better able to attach itself to dry hair and get all the dirt and gunk outta there. I got in the shower 10-15 minutes later and rinsed it from my hair. At this point my hair was a little dry and stripped, but I attributed that to letting the shampoo sit for too long.
After stepping out the shower, I t-shirt dried for around 1/2 an hour and then went on to the deep conditioning. This week's deep conditioner took the form of 1 part Lekair Cholesterol to 1 part Shea Moisture Deep Treatment Masque. I sat under the bonnet dryer for about 20 minutes to have this penetrate my strands and then kept it in overnight.
The next morning I rinsed the DC from my hair and conditioned with the Kukui oil conditioner. My hair was soft, hydrated and I could feel a layer of oil from the conditioner, which I liked. Again I t-shirt dried until about 80% and then prepared to style.
My hair remained in the 4 sections throughout the entire process, so I detangled a section, moisturized it with water and Aussie 3 Minute moist and styled it.
I told you how much I was digging last week's twists for how conducive they were to a healthy lifestyle, so of course they are back this week.
rope twists // flexi rod set |
I'm going to look into braiding the roots next time as they are a bit puffy due to my being 20 weeks post, and they can look a little messy because of that. I threw 2 flexirods in just for a different look this week, nothing fancy.
Overall, I like the way my hair turned out with the aforementioned shampoo and conditioner. No complaints here. (No, this post wasn't sponsored :-))
Was your last wash day a success too?
