Fitness Friday Frolic - Switching Things Up

I'm linking up once again with the lovely ladies of SavingourStrands, One&20, and Longing4Length, to share my current fitness routine.

It is important to switch things up while on a fitness journey to not only confuse the muscle to achieve greater results, but also to break up the monotony so we can stay motivated. I have already expressed my love for weight training on here but I wish to reiterate it. I absolutely love the results I get from tossing around some iron so I still keep it in my regimen. However, I joined a cardio class the very week of arriving home, and maayn I LOVE IT! I said cardio and not aerobics because I find that the instructors don't stick to the traditional jab, kick, step moves. We are doing burpees, squats, shooting (imaginary) hoops, mat work, jogging, sprinting...the works.

after this morning's yoga session
A part of the package is a Friday morning yoga session which I attended for the first time this morning, which worked me to the core (literally and figuratively!). They also have a nice little drink bar which sells fresh natural juices and blended shakes.

beetroot, carrot, cucumber juice - Yummeh!

I attend the gym five days a week doing cardio and weights 4 out of the 5 days, for two hours, and then an hour of yoga on Friday. There is also a handy-dandy little treadmill in my sister's living room, and a lovely hilly driveway outside (that everyone refuses to drive up due to it's gradient) for those non-gym days.

Fitness blender also comes in handy when I don't feel like walking/ running on a treadmill. Here is one of my favorite videos.

did both the treadmill and the hill today along with yoga this morning. I'm dead tired writing this post, but what can I say?! I love working out, and I love the results even more. These days it's like second nature to me. There's no not working out! It's a lifestyle.

Perhaps I should talk about what I eat on the daily in my next fitness Friday post. Stay tuned.

Ps. I'm not one of those picture-taking-in-weird-public-places kinda' girl, so this post may be somewhat lacking in photos of the actual gym, so pardon me.

Double tap if you worked out today (I'm kidding! lol)

  1. I totally feel you on switching things up to stay motivated. I do the same as well because I get bored easily real quick doing the same thing over and over again day in day out.

  5. I wish that I was better on the treadmill. You see I have this condition called clumsy and it causes me to trip over my own two feet when I'm on the treadmill. LOL!

Thanks for being apart of the #fitnessfriday movement chica!
