Extra virgin olive oil, affectionately nicknamed EVOO is one of the most popular natural oils used not only by kitchenistas, but by hairlistas as well. Extra virgin is the highest quality and most expensive olive oil classification. It should have no defects and a flavor of fresh olives. It's a nutritious oil, containing both Vitamin E and A. It is also rich in fats.
It is a carrier oil, which means it can be used as a base for essential oils without harmful effects. EVOO is used for pre-pooing, hot oil treatments, deep conditioning, making shampoos a bit more moisturizing, sealing moisturizers and so much more.
Benefits
Extra virgin olive oil is one of only three or four oils which is able to penetrate the strand, imparting nourishment deep into the cortex of the shaft. It moisturizes and conditions, leaving hair softer and more elastic. It also nourishes the scalp, providing relief to conditions such as dandruff or flaky scalp.
EVOO contains no protein, and is perfect for those suffering from a protein overload or really dry hair.
Do you use EVOO in your regimen? How so?
XOXO,
Abbi
