I picked up this deep conditioner about 10 days ago, and to date I have used it about 3 times. Now this conditioner says anti-breakage & strengthening! Those who know me know that is not my thing at all. I'm a lover of all things moisture. However I saw this conditioner and was interested in it, and decided to give it a try.
The first time, I used it as a dry deep conditioner. I love using deep conditioners to "moisturize" my hair. I.e. apply to hair without rinsing it out. The L'Oreal Power Moisture and the Shea Moisture Restorative conditioners were excellent in this regard, the Mega Growth...not so much. My hair was dry and crunchy by the following day (I used it before bed) and begging to be rinsed.
So the next day, I dampened my hair, applied some more of the product, put a plastic cap on and left it in for about an hour. When I rinsed it from my hair it was heaven. It left my hair feeling really soft and strong. I did the LOC method after I t-shirt dried for about 10 minutes, and the rest is history.
The last time I used it was on Thursday. I was heading to the gym and I knew I'd need to wash my hair after, since I had somewhere to be early Friday. So, I applied the product to my dry hair, put it into a ponytail and off to the gym I went. When I got home I rinsed it from my hair and shampooed with Shea Moisture's moisture retention shampooed. I'm experimenting, so I skipped the rinse out conditioner. Instead, I t-shirt dried for about 10 minutes and then did the LOC method using coconut oil and Garnier Fructis leave-in cream. Once again, my hair felt divine.
Needless to say, so far I'm loving the Profectiv Mega Growth Anti-breakage deep conditioner (and I already told you how much I'm feeling the LOC method). Hopefully it continues to be good to my hair. I'm thinking of cycling on and off with this one, rather than using only this product until it's finished like I usually do, only because of its strengthening properties.
Ever tried the Mega Growth deep conditioner? Was it as good to your hair as it was mine?
Woot woot! I've never used that conditioner before, but I'm glad it worked well for you! I and a huge fan of the "conditioner on moist hair with a plastic cap for an hour, then rinse" well my hair is. But Abbi, I'm a recovering product junkie, I cant buy another conditioner, I just cant, why doth you tempt me to do so?!! Lol!!!
ReplyDeletehahaha jokes!
DeleteGirl I don't subscribe to the junky notion.
I typically wait until I've used up a deep conditioner to purchase another. Right now I only have 2 in my stash & I plan to keep it that way. I experiment but within reason. lol
Hi Abbi, been eyeing that deep conditioner. Might grab one soon. Btw,have you tried the max hydration method yet? Your version, that is.
ReplyDeleteHey Ihuchi,
DeleteI do recommend it.
I haven't gotten around to it yet. But don't worry, it's coming.
Good stuff. I've been looking for a new (and reasonably priced) deep conditioner. Looks good.
ReplyDeleteYep I'm digging it & I think you will too.
DeleteI haven't tried it yet, but so far I've heard really good things about it. What type of protein does it have in it? Thanks for your review chica!

Hey KLP!
DeleteIt has quite a few: wheat protein, soy protein, hydrolyzed oat protein, & hydrolyzed vegetable protein. It also has strengthening oils like coconut & avocado. None of those ingredients are in the top ten though (and water is #1 on the list).
My pleasure!
I'm also usually a moisture person. I would go with your choice of DCeing with the conditioner on and off because my hair is protein sensitive. Thanks for the review.
