I am not one to do wash day posts every week, but since I tried something new, I thought I'd go ahead and do one this week. I had cornrows for two weeks as a protective style. This is how it went down:
On Friday Night...
13 weeks post wash day |
- Loosened cornrows, detangled + mini length check lol. Lost wayyy less hair than I did during my session after six weeks of protective styling and it took only 20/30 mins .
- Pre-pooed with Aubrey Honeysuckle Rose + a mixture of EVOO and Grapeseed oil for about an hour (hit the gym AGAIN lol)
- SOMETHING NEW - rinsed my pre-poo with some rosemary brew. Now, I have no idea if this is beneficial to my hair or not, but I love rosemary essential oil so I thought "why not?" and my hair was really soft after.
- Again, I shampooed with ORS creamy Aloe shampoo. (One lather, left on my hair for about 5 mins).
- Deep conditioned with a mix of Aubrey Honey suckle Rose and Queen Helene Cholesterol Cream (Ginseng version) + EVOO - grapeseed oil mix, a little vegetable glycerin, tea tree, rosemary, peppermint and lavender essential oils.
- Wrapped my hair up in a plastic cap and twisty-turby and sat under my bonnet dryer for about 20 minutes, after which the DC remained in my hair for another 40 or so minutes.
- Finally, I used the cool and seal method with Tresseme Moisture Rich as my regular conditioner. I did a final detangle with the shower stream. I braided my hair in four sections, adding a squirt of the Tresseme on each section as my leave-in.
- I put straws at the ends to give them a curl, wrapped my hair in my scarf and went to bed.
The Next Day...
HOTD - Braid-out |
I undid the braids while my hair was still damp. At first it was nice, soft and fluffy, then it turned to a frizzy mess. Hair that was too damp, too much manipulation, and not sealing the hair last night before braiding are the culprits I think. :-( I hated it. Nonetheless, I threw it into a fluffy, high pony tail and rocked it out!
Was your wash day less than perfect? How'd it go?
XOXO,
Abbi
Your hair still came out nice! The fluffy, textured high pony screams 'fun' :)
ReplyDeleteThanks Jen!! You know how it is when you're going for one thing and end up with something else. Disappointed. But I liked the 'fun' feel it portrayed.
