Turn Workout Hair into Weekend Hair Quick

As I told you before in a previous post, I rocked rope twists as my style for the week. Which were great for working out and keeping up with my healthy hair practices. However, by Saturday I had completed my 5/ 6 days of working out and wanted a different look.

I had planned on taking the twists down for a thorough wash but had not gotten to that yet, so I went ahead and undid them and did a high bun instead. Here's how I did it in just a few easy steps:

HOTD - Something's Fishy

Hey hey hey,

This quick post is just to show you how I wore my hair last Sunday.
It was a chill Sunday evening,  so I went for this style to complement my look.

HOTD - Sunday Funday (kinda lol)

Hey luvs!
So the braidout has totally become my default style. Sometimes it's super defined, other times its a big ball of frizz. Either way, I love it. It goes everywhere with me from lunch dates, to errands, to the gym and yesterday, to church. Check out the pics below for the skinny:

Sprung on Bantu-knots - HOTD

The weather has been lovely lately! Spring is that you??

I attended a party yesterday, and I wanted to do something different from my go-to braid-out, so I decided to give bantu knots a shot.

Upside-down, Inside-out - HOTW

I feel like I do these posts every other day based on how quickly the weeks go, but hey, no complaints here, gallop away.

I love web-surfing hair info. There is just so much out there to see and learn. Last week I got some inspiration from Dessy and decided it would be my next HOTW style. It's a very simple and fun style that takes about 10 minutes to execute. The only issue is, you have to be inverted to braid the hair going from nape upwards. This is my first time doing this kind of braid and when I returned to upright position, I realized the braid was inside-out (It was late and I was upside-down..don't judge me lol). I decided to let it remain that way, (as I wanted to get to bed and had no desire to start all over) and topped it off with a bun.

So for this week's style, I was literally upside-down while executing it and the cornrow ended up being inside-out. Take a look-see:

How To: My Perfect Braid-out

Saturday is my day for running errands and my go-to casual styles for these days are either a high bun or a braid-out. Well today it was braid-out day as I'm now 10.5 weeks post. I tend to go for a bun earlier on in the stretch when the edges show a little more cooperation.

HOTD - Braid-out

I think I pretty much have my routine for braid-outs down pat by now and so I'll share it with you.

Two the Hard Way (braid n bun) - HOTW

I love the styles KLP chooses for her pinspired link-up and this one is no different. I thought it'd be a good style for my HOTW stint, so I got to recreating it after my last wash. I thought it was going to be pretty easy but my 10-weeks-post hair just did not want to cooperate. I usually prefer styles that allow me to work in smaller sections when stretching, so this style was a little bit of a challenge. Anyway, I got it done and I am enjoying the finished product. Check it out:

A Trio - Hair of the Week (HOTW)

Another week is upon us and another protective style upon my head. This one is also pretty simple and is reminiscent of the single cornrow. Take a look-see:

The Braid Parade - HOTD (W)

My hair just would not cooperate last night. After little less than an hour I gave in and went for something basic. This is what I ended up with...

You Got Me Twisted - HOTD

I say HOTD, but it's more like my HOTW; hair of the week.

Since I'm not long-term protective styling with wigs, my aim is to keep each style for a week without redoing it, so as to limit manipulation. Last week I did a simple single cornrow of my entire head, and accessorized with head bands. I was pleased that it lasted throughout sleep, work-outs, and everything in between. So this week I decided to try again, but with something different to break up the monotony.

This week's style is an up-do of sorts.

Saved by the Braids- Wash Day 1.14.14

Don't you just love easy breezy wash days?! *insert loong happy sigh*
This wash day was just that!

It started off with me doing a hot oil treatment using EVOO on Saturday. I applied the oil to my hair and scalp in sections and proceeded to braid each section after it had been oiled. I pinned them all up and went on my way. I didn't have any engagements this weekend and Monday is a national holiday, so I let my hair stay this way until I was ready to wash...I was finally ready on Monday lol.

I woke up and applied my DC (pictured left) mix to the four sections while still braided. I wrapped my head in cling foil and a plastic cap and sat under my bonnet dryer for about a 1/2 an hour. It remained in this condition for another 2 hours. I hopped in the shower and rinsed the DC mix from my hair, and absent-mindedly applied the very same shampoo (herbal essences moisture shampoo) that I hated a few wash days back...oh hellll no! Why'd I do that?

Vacay Behavior - Hair Edition

  Hey guys,

I'm here to share a few of the hair styles I wore during my winter break. I used quite a bit of heat in these styles (judgement-free zone lol).  I did a full flat iron only once after my relaxer, but I flat-ironed the roots of the roller-set twice subsequent to the full flat iron. It makes my hair more manageable and that's exactly what I needed during my 'time off'.

I did flat-irons, braid-outs, roller sets and more.I didn't take as many pictures as I should have, but these are a few I captured. Take a peek.

Relaxing with yo' Girl - Update

Hey guys! This is just a quick relaxer update.

I relaxed on Dec 17th (I already posted the relaxer process, if you missed it, click here ). I have already rewashed and styled my hair (yesterday). I also did a clear rinse - review coming up in short order.

Below is my hair now after being flat ironed. (I am not a huge fan of my flat-iron, the max temp is quite low and it doesn't give me hair that is as straight as I'd like.) As it turns out, my hair was not relaxed as bone straight as I first thought. It seems that only the very front (near the hairline) is straight, which I can deal with as it makes sleek styles that much easier. One thing I noticed and don't like is the multiple textures. It caused a bit of tangling (or maybe it's because I didn't spend enough time on the actual relaxer day to properly detangle). I may look into correcting this issue at a future date if it continues to bother me. OK let's get to the pics.

Birthday Flex - HOTD

Happy birthday to meee! lol

I had work today (booo!), but I still tried something different and fun so I wouldn't feel just ordinary on my fave day of the year lol.

Just a simple style which took only a few minutes, but I kinda like it. Take a peek...

Checking Me Out - HOTD2

Stretching relaxers is great, but being 19 weeks post can make it really difficult to style your hair. You may be tempted to break out the flat iron more often because the new growth can be something special!  But you don't have to! Below is a pic of my hair today, which is a kind of go-to style for me.

The Trickery! - Wash Day 29/11

It was my intention to wear my protective style for 6 weeks, it really was. However, I made it to 4 and was like F this. lol I just grew tired of wearing a wig and wanted my own hair again.

So on Friday night, I got to undoing my braids and finger detangling. This process took me a mere 25 mins, as opposed to last time when it lasted about 2.5 hours, and with minimal shedding too. I laughed in the face of the small amount of shed hair.

My Substitute... for Flexi Rods

I love curly hair! You may remember in this post I listed flexirods as one of the things I've been dying to get my hands on but couldn't find anywhere where I live. I went to the 100yen shop and found some foam gadgets that I thought may well work as a substitute.
